Rate
of Water Adsorption
(Pad dwell on water, mild agitation)
Rate of water dragout after adsorbing 100g of oil.
Water Pickup Over Time

|
| Superbuoyant™
Pad has more than 5x the buoyancy of standard MBPP pads. |
Superbuoyant™
RD drags out 50 Times less water than standard MBPP pads under
above conditions. |
Benefits
- Superbuoyant™ products
instantly attach to oil
- Virtually zero water dragout
- Will prevent over 4.5 lb. of oil from sinking
- Prevents weathering and separation on contact
- Superbuoyant™ products are
trio-electrically inactive and will not generate static charge
- Environmentally safe
Superbuoyant
RD™ has
been designed for rapid deployment and quick retrieval. Each unit of the
interconnected pads spans a distance of 12 feet and covers an area 22
inches wide. This design also allows the Superbuoyant
RD™ to be connected together to form a continuous barrier
of protection to boom off or encircle an oil spill. Its highly buoyant,
water repellent material makes it ideally suited to spotty water
applications where it is exposed primarily to water and where
conventional pads tend to become waterlogged and ineffective.
Usage Directions
Heavy and Group 5 Oils
- Place Superbuoyant RD™ pads
on top of heavy oils
- Oils immediately attach to pads preventing weathering, sinking,
spreading, emulsification, and tarball formation
- The Superbuoyant RD™ pads
will render the slick cohesive even if they are insufficient in
number to cover the entire surface Superbuoyant
RD™ pads
Spotty Water
- Use the Superbuoyant RD™ as
a boom or sweep to gather light films of oil from the water surface
- Once attached, the oil can easily be lifted from the water by
reeling in the rope connected Superbuoyant
RD™ pads
Sweep Method
- Anchor one end of the Superbuoyant RD™
and with the other end sweep across the contaminated water surface
to remove oil deposits.
Rapid
Development
Hand Deployment
- Anchor one end of the Superbuoyant RD™
- Attach a small weight to the free end of the Superbuoyant
RD™
- Throw or launch the weighted end over the contaminated water
- For longer spans attach multiple Superbuoyant
RD™ together with supplied connectors
Boat Deployment
- Attach one end of Superbuoyant RD™
to stationary point on land, buoy, or other boat
- Attach free end of Superbuoyant RD™to
another boat
- Allow Superbuoyant RD™ to
span the distance between the two boats
- For longer span attach multiple Superbuoyant
RD™ together with supplied connectors
Boom Method
- The Superbuoyant RD™ pads
have been designed to overlap to provide a continuous barrier to oil
when deployed, which allows the Superbuoyant
RD™to be used as a very rapidly deployable boom
- Connect the number of sections of Superbuoyant
RD™ together with the supplied connectors
- Spread the Superbuoyant RD™
across or around the contaminated area to provide a fast and
efficient boom to contain the oil.
Asphalt
- Superbuoyant RD™ is uniquely
suited to remediating spills of asphalt. Throw Superbuoyant
RD™ onto the freshly spilled asphalt to keep it
floating until it can be removed from the water's surface
- Each Superbuoyant RD™ pad is
able to keep over 4.5 pounds of asphalt from sinking
